Aston by-election: Postal voting? Don’t delay

Updated: 22 March 2023

Aston residents planning to vote by post for the 1 April by-election are being urged by the Australian Electoral Commission to act now.

AEC State Manager for Victoria Nye Coffey said people who need to apply for a postal ballot were running out of time.

“The message is clear – if you need a postal ballot act now,” Mr Coffey said.

“The deadline for applications is 6pm AEST on Wednesday 29 March, which is quite close to by-election day.

“The earlier you apply, the better chance we have of getting a ballot paper to you in time.”

Return your postal vote ASAP

People who have already received their postal voting pack in the mail are also being encouraged to complete it quickly.

“If you’ve already applied for and received your ballot paper, please complete and post it back to the AEC as soon as possible,” Mr Coffey said.

As of 22 March, more than 15,500 postal vote applications have been received in Aston.
