Fadden by-election: Early voting begins
Plan how you will cast your vote

Updated: 3 July 2023

Pre-polling for the Fadden by-election has begun today. Pre-poll will run for two weeks up until polling day on Saturday 15 July 2023.

The Australian Electoral Commission is encouraging all voters in the federal electoral division of Fadden to plan how they will cast their vote in the by-election.

AEC State Manager for Queensland Stephanie Attard has emphasised the importance of planning your vote over the next two weeks.

“When it comes to choosing your method of voting, carefully consider your personal circumstances and seek information from the AEC website,” Ms Attard said.

“Early voting centres are open in Helensvale and Runaway Bay from today with six early voting centres available from this weekend and 29 open on by-election day.”

“All voting locations and opening times are now available”.

Postal voting

While applications for postal votes can be lodged with the AEC until 6pm AEST on Wednesday 12 July, Ms Attard emphasised it was crucial to apply early.

“If you need a postal vote, please don’t leave it to the last minute,” Ms Attard said.

“For some locations, an application left until the last minute creates the risk that the AEC simply can’t get ballot papers to you, despite our best efforts.”

Voting accessibility

For Fadden voters who are blind or have low vision, the AEC is again operating its telephone voting service and working with relevant bodies to communicate about that service.

“We will also be visiting identified residential care facilities with mobile polling teams to ensure everyone has access to a voting service,” Ms Attard said.

More information on the Fadden by-election is available.
