Farrer by-election

A by-election has been called for the electorate of Farrer. In-person and postal voting options will be available for this by-election, however, it’s important to plan how you will cast your vote according to your personal circumstances.

Where to vote

You can vote at any polling place in the electorate of Farrer on by-election day. Polling places are usually located at local schools, churches and community halls, or public buildings. The locations of these polling places will be available soon.

Early voting will be available in the two weeks before by-election day beginning on Tuesday 28 April 2026. Locations of early voting centres will be available soon.

Postal voting is available for this by-election. You can apply for a postal vote here.

Mobile voting is an in-person voting service delivered by AEC staff. Our mobile polling teams visit establishments where people experience additional barriers to voting including travelling to and/or voting in a polling place. Mobile polling will occur at selected locations to deliver services catering for people experiencing homelessness, and those living in remote locations, non-remote Indigenous communities, residential aged care facilities, mental health services, and hospitals. Mobile polling teams may also provide a service at Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

Voters living with a disability can cast their vote via post or can vote with assistance if needed at a polling place. Learn more about support for people with disability including telephone voting for those who are blind or have low vision.

For this by-election, Australian Embassies and Consulate offices overseas will not be conducting in-person voting or collecting postal votes to return to Australia. If you are a Farrer resident and are currently overseas, you can apply for a postal vote.

All overseas postal votes will be delivered by an international courier with a return satchel and waybill.
