Step 2. Invitation for suggestions – Queensland federal redistribution

Members of the public were invited to submit written suggestions relating to the redistribution between Wednesday 19 April and Friday 19 May 2017.Guidelines were available to help with submission and those making suggestions were recommended to look at:

• Essential information about the Queensland redistribution
• Who makes the proposed redistribution and what factors do they consider?

Suggestions may concern one or more electoral divisions and may be about:

• names of federal electoral divisions,
• boundaries of federal electoral divisions, or
• the names and boundaries of federal electoral divisions.

In developing a suggestion about the names of federal electoral divisions, members of the public were advised it may be helpful to consider:

• Guidelines for naming divisions,
• information about the names of current federal electoral divisions, and
• origins of the names for electoral divisions which are no longer in use.

In developing a suggestion about the boundaries of a federal electoral division, members of the public were advised it may be helpful to consider:

• Current enrolment quota
• Maps of current federal electoral division boundaries, which are available in each electoral division's profile
• Enrolment projections
