Step 5A – Inquiry into objections

An inquiry was held in Adelaide on Thursday 7 June 2018 into objections to the proposed redistribution of electoral divisions in South Australia, as outlined in a report published by the Redistribution Committee for South Australia on Friday 13 April 2018.

At the inquiry, individuals or organisations were able to address the augmented Electoral Commission for South Australia on any matter raised in an objection to the proposed redistribution of South Australia or in a comment on these objections.

Matters raised in objections and comments on objections include the:

  • abolition of the Division of Port Adelaide
  • boundary of the proposed Division of Boothby
  • electoral division(s) in which the suburbs of Aberfoyle Park, Flagstaff Hill and Happy Valley are located
  • electoral division(s) in which the suburbs of Aldinga Beach, Port Willunga and Sellicks Beach are located
  • electoral division(s) in which the City of Unley is located
  • electoral division(s) in which the suburbs of Craigburn Farm and Hawthorndene are located
  • name of the proposed Division of Hindmarsh
  • name of the proposed Division of Spence

Topics raised in objections and comments on objections that were not raised at the inquiry were considered by the augmented Electoral Commission for South Australia as part of its deliberations.

Eleven submissions were made at the inquiry held by the augmented Electoral Commission in Adelaide on Thursday 7 June 2018.
