Testing schedule

15/7/2010 – Media Feed Version 3.0 schema test data

We have published a set of data from the 2007 Federal Election conforming to the new schema. This comprises both a preload set of files plus a number of Election Night files. This is available via ftp at ftp://mediafeedtest.aec.gov.au/13745.

Note that these are primarily to allow you to test your systems with the new schema and are sourced from a test environment where results figures cannot be assured. This data does not represent the historic data for the 2010 Federal Election which will be provided separately as a preload.

22/7/2010 – Preliminary reference data

Simple CSV formatted reference data extracts are available as shown below.

• Division Extract – a list of current federal electorates.
• Party Extract – a list of registered parties for the 2010 Federal Election.

26/7/2010 – Historic votes data

Simple CSV formatted historic votes data extracts are available as shown below. These extracts reflect notional vote history for those states redistributed since the last election – NSW, QLD, TAS & WA. The party abbreviation used in these extracts is listed in Political Parties.

• Division Historic First Prefs Extract – historic first preference votes by party by division.
• Division Historic First Prefs Extract Pivot – historic first preference votes by party by division pivotted to show one party per column. Includes party percentage.
• Division Historic TCP Extract Pivot – historic TCP votes by party by division pivotted to show one party per column. Includes party percentage.
• Division Historic TPP Extract Pivot – historic TPP votes by party by division pivotted to show one party per column. Includes party percentage.

19/8/2010 – Election Dress Rehearsal

We will conduct an Election Dress Rehearsal on Thursday 19/8/2010. This will simulate the election night event and use the production Media Feed data and site. Access to the Media Feed for this test event will be restricted. For further details contact Roger Wills at roger.wills@aec.gov.au.

Preload Data.

6/8/2010 12pm – Media Feed Preload release

The Media Feed Preload is available on the Media Feed Test site via ftp at ftp://mediafeedtest.aec.gov.au/15508.

The preload contains data which is complete but not final. Adjustments to this data can continue to be made by the AEC up until the final release of the preload.

The final release of the Media Feed preload will occur during the week commencing Monday 16/8/2010.

Media Feed sites

Protocol

The Media Feed is delivered via access to an FTP site. This site operates in Passive mode (further details available in the Media Feed documentation). Access to the files is via a 'pull' method and users must determine the file they require and then request it.

Media Feed – production

The Media Feed site will be accessible via ftp at ftp://mediafeed.aec.gov.au/15508. Access to this site will be available publicly from 4pm Saturday 21/8/2010. It will be available for restricted access, under embargo, from 12pm Thursday 19/8/2010.

Media Feed – test

The Media Feed test is accessible via ftp at ftp://mediafeedtest.aec.gov.au/13745.
