Change your address
You must update your address on the electoral roll every time you move. If you don't, your name could be removed from the electoral roll and you will be unable to vote.
If you live in ACT, NSW, NT, QLD, TAS or VIC, change your address online and provide your driver's licence number to immediately update your enrolment for federal, state/territory and local government elections. Information for SA and WA electors.
Change your address
Complete this form to update your address details on the electoral roll. To update, you need to show evidence of your identity by:
- providing your driver's licence number, or
- providing your Australian passport number, or
- having your identity confirmed by an enrolled person.
Check your form status
Once you submit your enrolment form, you can check the status using the receipt number provided.
Special enrolment forms
There is a special enrolment form for people in any of the following categories:
- no fixed address
- going overseas
- prisoners
- physically incapable of signing
- working in Antarctica
- believe having your address shown on the roll could put you or your family's safety at risk
Other ways to change your address
If you have trouble accessing the online enrolment form you can:
- use the alternative web-based form (e.g. for handheld devices)
- complete and print a PDF form
- pick up a form at Australia Post outlets, Centrelink offices and AEC offices
SA and WA electors
If you provide your driver's licence number, your enrolment will be automatically updated for federal elections only. You need to print, have your signature witnessed, and return the form to the AEC to update your enrolment for state and local government elections.
