2007 Federal Election - Remote voting

If you live in a remote area in Australia, the AEC doesn’t want you to miss out on your vote. You can vote the following ways:

  1. Remote mobile polling: voting teams will be coming to a number of remote locations to collect elector’s votes from Monday 12th November until Saturday 24th November. Voting teams are often in remote areas for short periods of time. To find out when a remote mobile polling team will be near you, check the remote voting timetable below.
  2. Postal vote: you can apply for a postal vote but you should take slower postal delivery service times in some remote areas into account as applications must be received by the AEC before ballot papers can be sent to you. Your completed ballot papers must be sent back to the AEC and postmarked no later than Saturday 24th November. You can call 13 23 26 if you have any queries.
  3. General postal vote: if you live more than 20km from a polling place, including a place where mobile polling is likely to occur, you can apply to register as a general postal voter. You only need to apply once and you will automatically be sent ballot papers as soon as practical following the declaration of federal election nominations, or the issue of a writ for referendums.

* All Australian citizens aged 18 years and over must vote, it’s the law.
