The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) announced today that the second stage of payments of election funding are now being made for the 2004 federal election.
Election funding is paid after each federal election with payments being made in two stages. The first payment is 95 per cent of the amount due based on the number of votes counted as at the 20th day after the election. The second payment is the remainder due once vote counting is finalised and verified.
