23 August 2010
The Australian Electoral Officer and State Manager for Victoria, Mrs Jenni McMullan, today reminded all interested individuals and organisation that, in accordance with the legislated timetable, written objections relating to the proposed redistribution of Victorian federal electoral boundaries must be lodged before 6pm on Friday 27 August 2010.
All objections received will be available for public inspection at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) office in Melbourne and on the AEC website Victorian Redistribution 2010 page from Monday 30 August 2010.
Written comments on the objections may then be submitted by interested individuals and organisations. Comments must be received by the AEC before 6pm on Friday 10 September 2010.
"The redrawing of the Victorian federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of the Victorian electoral divisions has as far as practicable the same number of electors," Mrs McMullan said.
The redistribution proposal for Victoria and further information about the redistribution process is available on the Victorian redistribution page at www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC's Victorian office on 03 9285 7177.
Objections, and comments on objections, must be lodged by the specified deadline with the office of the Australian Electoral Officer for Victoria in one of the following ways:
- in person to Level 8, Casselden Place, 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000;
- or by mail to GPO Box 9867, Melbourne, VIC, 8060;
