Victorian Federal Electoral Redistribution

17 April 2002

The Australian Electoral Officer for Victoria, Mr Daryl Wight, today reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written suggestions and comments must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee by next Friday 19 April 2002.

"The redrawing of the Victorian federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of Victoria's electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Mr Wight said.

Mr Wight also said that the AEC provided a range of information to assist individuals and organisations to develop their suggestions.

"This information is available on the AEC website www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC's Melbourne office on (03) 9285 7134," he said.

Suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee for Victoria by 6.00pm on Friday 19 April 2002 at Level 22, 2 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
