Name Derivation: Named after Andrew Petrie 1798-1872, a noted civil engineer, pioneer, explorer and the first free settler in Brisbane 1837.
Area and Location Description: Petrie covers an area of approximately 127 sq km from the northern Brisbane suburbs to the City of Redcliffe on Moreton Bay. It takes in parts of the local government areas of Brisbane City, all of the Redcliffe City area and part of Pine Rivers Shire. The main suburbs of the City of Brisbane include: Bald Hills, Bracken Ridge, Bridgeman Downs, Carseldine, Chermside West, Fitzgibbon, McDowall and parts of Aspley, Everton Park and Stafford Heights. The suburbs of the City of Redcliffe include Clontarf, Kippa-Ring, Margate, Redcliffe, Rothwell, Scarborough and Woody Point. Other areas include part of Mango Hill and Griffin in Pine Rivers Shire.
