Updated: 13 January 2011

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) maintains and updates the Commonwealth electoral roll – a list of eligible persons who are registered to vote in Australian elections. All States and Territories have joint roll agreements with the AEC. Electors only need to complete one form to enrol for Federal, State and local government elections.

If you are an Australian citizen who is 18 years of age or older, it is compulsory for you to be enrolled at your permanent address.
