Time is running out to enrol for the Batman by-election

Updated: 13 February 2018

The Australian Electoral Commission reminds voters that the electoral roll for the Batman by-election will close at 8.00pm Wednesday 14 February.

Australian Electoral Officer for Victoria, Steve Kennedy, said that all Australian citizens aged 18 years and over and living in the federal electoral Division of Batman are required by law to enrol and vote in the by-election, including those aged over 70 years old.

“You can enrol online, or if you’re already enrolled but have recently moved, you can update your enrolment details online Mr Kennedy said.

“Alternatively, you can pick up an enrolment application at any AEC office or Australia Post outlet, but you must return a completed application to the AEC by the 8.00pm deadline on Wednesday.”

On Wednesday 14 February, all AEC offices in Victoria will be open for extended hours from 8.30am to 8.00pm to receive enrolment applications.

“If you’re unsure if your enrolment details are up to date, or whether you live in the Division of Batman, you can check your details online or call the AEC on 13 23 26,” Mr Kennedy said.
