Bennelong by-election payment to political parties and candidates

The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has authorised the full payment of election funding to political parties and candidates for votes received at the Bennelong by‑election.

The total amount of election funding for the by-election is $207,366.96. Payments have been made to four parties.

This first and final round of payments was based on the final vote count as at close of business on Thursday 4 January 2018.

Editor’s notes

  • In order to be entitled to election funding a candidate must obtain at least four per cent of the formal first preference vote.
  • Funding entitlements are calculated using an indexed sum per first preference vote. At the Bennelong by‑election, each first preference vote was worth 268.332 cents.
