Not too late for postal voters in the Bennelong by-election

Updated: 18 December 2017

Bennelong electors who received a postal vote from the AEC and correctly completed it before the close of polls (at 6pm AEDT Saturday 16 December) for the by-election, are being urged to mail back their vote sealed within the specially provided declaration envelope.

The Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales, Warwick Austin said this only applies to postal voters who completed their vote and had their declaration witnessed as required before the close of polling on Saturday.

“It could be that you postal voted and had your declaration correctly witnessed before 6pm on Saturday and didn’t realise that you can still mail your vote to the AEC,” Mr Austin said.

“As long as you correctly completed the requirements of a postal vote before 6pm Saturday, you should still mail it to us.”
