Name Derivation:
Named after Sir John McEwen (1900–1980), he served as caretaker Prime Minister of Australia for three weeks (1967–1968).
Area and Location Description:
It covers an area of approximately 14 328 sq km from Murchison East in the north to Powelltown in the south, and from Craigieburn in the west to Mt Buller in the east.
