Name Derivation:
Named after Charles Joseph La Trobe (1801–1875), first Lieutenant-Governor of Victoria (1851–1854). He also promoted the Foundation of Melbourne University in 1853.
Area and Location Description:
It covers an area of approximately 549 sq km from Bayswater in the north-west, to Gembrook in the east and Officer in the south-east.
The main suburbs include Bayswater, Beaconsfield, Belgrave, Berwick, Boronia, Cockatoo, Emerald, Ferntree Gully, Gembrook, Narre Warren, Officer, Olinda, Sassafras and Upwey.
