Name Derivation:

Named after Arthur Calwell (1896–1973), Minister (1943–1949), Member of the House of Representatives (1940–1972), Leader of the Australian Labor Party (1960–1967). He is the only political leader in Australia's history to have had an assassination attempt against him.

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 234 sq km from Campbellfield in the east to Diggers Rest in the west.
