Name Derivation:

Named after Caroline Chisholm (1808–1877), noted social worker and advocate of immigration to New South Wales.

Area and Location Description:

It covers an area of approximately 60 sq km in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, from Box Hill North in the north to Oakleigh and Clayton in the south and from Glen Waverley and Mount Waverley in the east to Burwood and Chadstone in the west.

The suburbs of Ashburton, Box Hill, Box Hill North, Box Hill South, Burwood, Burwood East, Chadstone, Clayton, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley, Oakleigh, Oakleigh South and Surrey Hills are in the division.

Products/Industries of the area:

Box Hill has the largest office centre outside of the Melbourne central business district and St Kilda Road. In other parts of the division there is a diverse range of light and heavy industries including warehouses and metal, transport and electrical firms.
