AEC Delivers Voting Information to Over Seven Million Australian Households

Important voting information on the 2004 federal election has been landing in the letterboxes of over seven million Australian households.
The Electoral Comissioner, Mr Andy Becker said that the delivery of 7,536,564 elector leaflets throughout Australia was nearing completion.
“The State and Territory specific leaflets provide important practical information which will help all electors to fully participate in the 2004 election,” he said.
The leaflet provides instructions on how to correctly fill out the Senate and House of Representatives ballot papers, details of where to vote before and on election day, information on how votes are counted and useful AEC contact details.
Mr Becker said that the printing and distribution of the leaflet titled Your Official Guide to the 2004 Federal Election was accomplished within a very tight timeframe.
The leaflet is also available on audio cassette, in large print and in braille by ringing the AEC call centre on 13 23 26, or can be downloaded as an audio file or large print file from the AEC website at ww.aec.gov.au.
In addition, a summarised version of the leaflet has been translated into 18 different languages, which are all available on the AEC website or by ringing the AEC call centre on 13 23 26.
Mr Becker said that the elector leaflet was part of the Australian Electoral Commission’s extensive public awareness activities to ensure all elgible electors were informed about how to fully participate in the 2004 election.
