Update your enrolment for the Lyne by-election

The deadline for electors already on the electoral roll to update their details in time for the Lyne by-election is 8pm tomorrow, Friday 8 August 2008.

The AEC Divisional Returning Officer for Lyne, Vicki Holman, said today that electors already on the electoral roll who still need to update their details should do so to ensure they can vote.

“To update your address or name details on the roll, fill out an enrolment form without delay and return it to an AEC office by 8pm, Friday 8 August,” she said.

“If anyone wants to check where they are enrolled they can do this online at www.aec.gov.au or by calling 13 23 26.”

Enrolment forms can be downloaded from the AEC website www.aec.gov.au and are available at any Australia Post outlet or AEC office as well as at any Medicare or Centrelink office.

Completed enrolment forms can be

  • handed into the AEC office: Shop 4, Manning Arcade, 20 Manning St Taree;
  • faxed to (02) 6551 0158; or
  • scanned and emailed to LYNE@aec.gov.au.

Election day for the electorate of Lyne House of Representatives by-election is Saturday 6 September 2008.  Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over who are enrolled in the electorate of Lyne.

Ms Holman added that the deadline for eligible Australians who needed to enrol for the first time or get back on the roll in time for the Lyne House of Representatives by-election had already passed.

NOTE: The deadline has also passed for electors to enrol to vote or update their existing details for the NSW local council elections on Saturday 13 September 2008.
