Where to vote in the Gippsland by-election

20 June 2008

There are 87 locations where you can vote in the Gippsland by-election on Saturday 28 June 2008.

The Divisional Returning Officer for Gippsland, Mr David Wakely, said that addresses for all polling places will be published in Gippsland newspapers during the week commencing Monday 23 June, and The Age and the Herald Sun on Friday 27 June.

“A list of polling places has also been included in an information guide to the Gippsland by-election, distributed to households over the last week,” Mr Wakely said.

“It is important to note that there have been some changes to the list of polling places contained in the guide”, he said.  The correct polling place details for Bairnsdale, Paynesville and Stratford are as follows:

Bairnsdale Secondary College, 65 Wallace Street
Bairnsdale Primary School, 324 Main Street
Paynesville Primary School, 31 Ashley Street
Stratford Primary School, 12 Wellsford Street

Voters in the Sale area are reminded that the Memorial Hall is not a polling place for the by-election and a new polling place has been established at Bishop Phelan Stadium, 48 Pearson Street, Sale.

Voting is compulsory for Australian citizens aged 18 years and over, including electors aged over 70, and enrolled in the electorate of Gippsland.  All polling places will be open from 8.00am to 6.00pm on Saturday 28 June.
