Tasmanian federal electoral redistribution suggestions reminder
The Australian Electoral Officer (State Manager) for Tasmania, Marie Neilson, today reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee for Tasmania by 6pm Monday 28 April 2008.
"The redrawing of the Tasmanian federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process that is being undertaken to ensure that each of Tasmania’s electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Ms Neilson said.
Ms Neilson also said the AEC provided a range of information to assist individuals and organisations to develop their suggestions.
"This information is available on the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC’s Hobart office on 03 6235 0507," she said.
Suggestions must be lodged with the Redistribution Committee by 6pm on Monday 28 April 2008 in one of the following ways:
- in person to Level 2, AMP Building, 86 Collins Street, Hobart
- by mail to GPO Box 520, Hobart, TAS, 7001
- by facsimile to 03 6234 4268
- by email to tas.redistribution@aec.gov.au
All suggestions received by the deadline will be made available for public inspection at the AEC Tasmania State Office and on the AEC website after 6pm on Monday 28 April 2008.
The public have until 6pm on Friday 9 May 2008 to lodge written comments on the suggestions made.
