Updated: 1 November 2010

31 July 2006

The Australian Electoral Officer for New South Wales, Mr David Farrell, announced today that written objections to the proposed redistribution of New South Wales' Federal Electoral Boundaries were now publically available.

The objections are available for public inspection at the Australian Electoral Commission's (AEC) State Office in Sydney and on the AEC's website.

Mr Farrell said that individuals and organisations were now welcome to lodge comments on the objections recevied by the Redistribution Committee for New South Wales. Comments need to be lodged with the Committee no later than 6.00pm on Friday 11 August 2006.

Comments on objections may be lodged in one of the following ways:

  • in person to 4th floor, Roden Cutler House, 24 Campbell Street, Haymarket NSW 2000; or
  • by mail to PO Box 20014 World Square NSW 2002; or
  • by facsimile to 02 9212 2208; or
  • by email to nsw.redistribution@aec.gov.au

"The redrawing of the State's federal electoral boundaries has been, and continues to be, a consultative process to ensure that each of New South Wales electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Mr Farrell said.

A range of information regarding the redistribution process is available via the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC's Sydney office on (02) 9375 6321
