24 July 2006

The Australian Electoral Officer for Queensland, Ms Anne Bright, today reminded all interested individuals and organisations that written objections to the proposed redistribution of Queensland Federal Electoral Boundaries are now publicly available for inspection at the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) office in Brisbane and on the AEC's website.

"The redrawing of the Queensland federal electoral boundaries has been, and continues to be, a consultative process to ensure that each of Queensland's electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Ms Bright said.

The period for lodging comments on the objections to the proposed redistribution has now commenced. Any such comments need to be lodged with the Redistribution Committee for Queensland, no later than 6pm Friday 4 August 2006. Ms Bright said that individuals and organisations were welcome to lodge any comments on the objections the Committee had received.

"The AEC provides a range of information regarding the redistribution process which may be obtained via the AEC website www.aec.gov.au or from the AEC's Brisbane office on (07) 3834 3431," she said.

Comments on objections may be lodged in one of the following ways:
