Media Release 2005: Werriwa electors to have their say tomorrow

Updated: 29 October 2010

Werriwa electors are reminded that tomorrow, Saturday 19 March, is election day.

On Saturday the majority of electors on the Werriwa electoral roll will be casting their vote, said the Divisional Returning Officer for Werriwa, Ms Karen Houston.

"Tomorrow, 39 polling places in Werriwa will open for voting at 8am and will close at 6pm sharp," she said.

Ms Houston said that voting trends at recent elections have shown that almost 60 per cent of electors vote between 9am and midday on election day.

"The best time to vote without delay would be after lunch or during the early afternoon," she said.

"But whatever you do, don't leave it until the last minute as polling places close at 6pm sharp."

It is compulsory that every elector on the Werriwa electoral roll votes in the by-election if they haven't already cast their vote in the weeks leading up to election day.

"The maximum penalty for not voting is $50."

Details of the location of polling places are available from the AEC website or by calling 13 23 26.
