Mr Ian Campbell commenced his appointment as the new Electoral Commissioner on 2 July following the retirement of Mr Andy Becker.

On his first official day at the Australian Electoral Commission, Mr Campbell said he was looking forward to his new role as Electoral Commissioner and in leading the AEC through the next few years of electoral and administrative process.

Mr Campbell comes to the AEC after five and a half years as Deputy President of the Repatriation Commission. He has held a number of senior executive level positions in the Public Service including the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, Treasury, Finance and the Departments of Communications, Health and Housing and Community Services.
