Media Release 2005: Deadline for suggestions to the Redistribution Committee for the ACT

The public are reminded that the deadline to submit suggestions for the redistribution of federal electoral boundaries in the ACT is Friday, 18 March 2005.
The Electoral Commissioner, Mr Andy Becker, said all interested individuals and organisations have until 6pm next Friday, 18 March 2005 to lodge written public suggestions about possible changes to the names and boundaries of the two federal electoral divisions in the ACT with the Redistribution Committee.
"The redrawing of the ACT's federal electoral boundaries is a consultative process and aims to ensure that each of the electoral divisions has, as near as possible, the same number of electors," Mr Becker said.
The AEC provides a range of information regarding the redistribution process which can be accessed from the AEC website www.aec.gov.au.
Individuals and organisations are welcome to lodge written suggestions to the Redistribution Committee for the Australian Capital Territory at 1st Floor, 8-10 Hobart Place, Canberra City ACT 2601 or GPO Box 1807, Canberra ACT 2601 by 6pm on Friday 18 March 2005.
