Media Release 2005: 16 candidates nominate for the Werriwa by-election

The Divisional Returning Officer for Werriwa, Ms Karen Houston has declared that 16 candidates will be contesting the Werriwa by-election on Saturday 19 March 2005.

The candidate nominations were officially declared at 12 noon today, followed by a draw to determine the position of each candidate on the ballot paper.

Attached to this release is the list of candidates in ballot paper order.

"Werriwa electors can vote either in person or by post, if they will be unable to vote at their local polling place on election day, Saturday 19 March 2005," Ms Houston said.

"Postal vote application forms are now available from any post office in the Division of Werriwa, AEC offices, on the AEC website www.aec.gov.au, or by calling 13 23 26," she said.

Eligible electors can have an early vote in person at an early voting centre or at any AEC office around Australia from Monday 28 February 2005.
