All the votes cast by Aston electors in polling places today have been counted.  Results at the close of counting this evening are attached.

A small number of votes (approximately 200) will be counted tomorrow, Sunday 15 July 2001.  These are a result of votes taken in hospitals and nursing homes.  These results will be posted to the AEC web site after 2.00pm. 

Over 10,000 electors cast pre-poll votes or voted by post for this by-election.  The counting of these votes will commence on Monday 16 July 2001.  A Media Advice with progressive, updated results will be sent out at the end of each day.
