Electors residing in the federal Division of Ryan are reminded that they have until 8.00pm on Friday to make sure that they are correctly enrolled for the by-election which is to be held on Saturday 17 March 2001.

The Divisional Returning Officer for Ryan, Mr Tim Scott, urges all those not enrolled or those needing to update their enrolment, to act quickly.

"It is too late to post your enrolment form now as it must be received by the Ryan Divisional Office by 8pm or other AEC office by 5pm on Friday.  To ensure that your enrolment form is received in time, you should take it to your nearest AEC office."

Enrolment and voting is compulsory for all Australian citizens aged 18 years or older.

Enrolment forms are available from:

• all Post Offices
• Australian Electoral Commission offices
• the AEC's website at www.aec.gov.au
