Nominations were announced today at 12 noon for the Aston By-Election to be held on Saturday, 14 July 2001.

A total of 15 candidates nominated for the By-Election. Their names appear on the attached sheet (sample ballot paper only) in the order in which they will appear on the actual ballot paper.

"If voters in Aston are unable to get to a polling place on election day, they will be able to vote from Monday, 18 June 2001, either in person or by post" said Divisional Returning Officer, Mr Dennis Ptak.

Mr Ptak urged voters who will be away from home on election day to vote before they go. "Voters who are unable to visit an AEC office should apply for a postal vote as soon as possible" he added.
