AEC Produces and Distributes 7 Million Elector Leaflets
25 October 2001
The AEC is reaching out to more than 7 million households to get its message across at Election 2001. As part of its plan to ensure every elector can make informed choices, the AEC is delivering a leaflet to every letterbox in the land.
The Electoral Commissioner, Mr Andy Becker said today that the printing and distribution of Your Official Guide to the 2001 Federal Election was an operation being conducted within a very tight timeframe.
"As soon as the election was announced, the AEC gave the go-ahead to print, plastic wrap and distribute the State and Territory specific leaflets all within an 18 day period.
"Most households should have received their copy by now."
The leaflet provides important information on the 2001 federal election, including instructions on how to correctly fill out the Senate and House of Representatives ballot papers, where to vote and how votes are counted.
In addition, the leaflet details the ways electors can vote before and on polling day and lists all AEC office addresses in the householder's State or Territory.
